Willan's Introduction, Passacaglia and Fugue was composed in tribute to Max Reger with the colors of the organ at Toronto's St. Thomas Church, Bloor Street in mind. The variations were composed during each trip on the trolley which used to run between Toronto and Willan's cottage on Lake Simcoe.
